Justice For All

Daily Reading // Isaiah 10:1-3

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Isaiah 10:1-3 1 "Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed 2 To rob the needy of justice, And to take what is right from the poor of My people, That widows may be their prey, And that they may rob the fatherless. 3 What will you do in the day of punishment, And in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory?

There have always been those who take advantage of others and seek to gain from their loss. Stealing. Cheating. Even preying on the most helpless and vulnerable. And they think they get away with it. Because there is a time delay, justice doesn’t come immediately, they think they’re off the hook. They get away with it once, twice and then make it a lifelong practice. They feel a sense of immunity. Seemingly, no one can do anything about it.

But God says there is a day coming when everyone will face justice. There will be nowhere you can run or hide. Every abuse of power and secret sin will be paid for. God reminds us ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay’. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Don't be fooled by a temporary acquittal. God will bring all things into account.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Father, I never want to gain from the loss of others. Guide me with truth and justice. May my life reflect You in all I do. I want to hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
