“But his Lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.”
Matthew 25:26 NKJV
The servant’s excuse to his lord was, “I was fearful”. The lord recognized he was “wicked and lazy”. There is a big difference.
Fearful sounds so justified. Almost making the man a victim. Was he fearful? Was he a victim? Or was he a wicked and lazy servant?
I may try to justify my own actions in this same way. “I couldn’t help it Lord.” “It wasn’t my fault.” “In fact, it may have been Your fault…” He sees right through it.
Don’t call fearful what is really wicked and lazy.
Jesus, Help me to understand my true motives. I do not want to be a wicked and lazy servant. Amen.
