S // SCRIPTURE
Select a verse from today’s reading
2 Samuel 6:14 (NKJV) Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.
O // OBSERVATION
Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text
David was David. He didn’t fit the mold of anyone else. He wasn’t a copy of King Saul or anyone else. He wasn’t guided by the expectation of others. He did what he felt was right at the moment.
The chapters of today’s reading record David’s extensive military exploits as well as his actions as a dancer and worshipper. You might say David slayed his enemies with the sword and slayed his audience with the harp.
What an interesting combination. David was a hardened military man and a sensitive artist. He didn’t feel a contradiction between the two. He didn’t have to give one up to be the other. He was himself.
A // APPLICATION
How can I apply this to my life today?
David reminds me not to be an imitation of anyone else. God made me unique. I can be who I am.
As long as my actions are consistent with God’s Word, I don’t have to be bothered if I don’t satisfy expectations or look just like everyone else.
I can be who I am with all my might, like David.
P // PRAYER
Express yourself in prayer
God, Help me to be who I am for You. Amen.
Oh my goodness… I love this thank you
