A Near Salvation

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When we talk of our salvation we normally talk in the past tense. I tell you about the day I heard about Jesus and surrendered my life to Him. I look back to tell you about my salvation.

But here Paul uses the future tense. He looks ahead to his salvation. He says it is nearer than when we first believed, so he is clearly not talking about that event.

I think salvation is past, present and future. I have been saved, I am being saved and I will be saved. All three.

I don’t want to limit my salvation to a long past event.

Lord, Save me today, tomorrow and every day. I look toward the fulfillment of salvation on the day that I stand with You. Amen.
