As Though He Did Not Hear

SCRIPTURE:

“This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.”

‭‭John‬ ‭8:6‬ ‭NKJV‬

OBSERVATION:

John tells us here, “as though He did not hear”. He did hear but in the moment you really couldn’t tell. It seemed He was preoccupied with something else. But He wasn’t. It may have seemed like He didn’t care. But He did. It seemed like He had been bested. But He hadn’t.

APPLICATION:

Sometimes I feel like Jesus isn’t paying , like He doesn’t have an answer, like He isn’t aware. He always is.

As He wrote in the dirt the consciences of the accusers went to work. His perfect work was accomplished as He wrote in the dirt.

I can trust Him, even as he writes in the dirt.

PRAYER:

Jesus, Thank You for being attentive and active in my life today.
