S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

2 Chronicles 15:14 (NKJV) Then they took an oath before the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting and trumpets and rams’ horns.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

Often when I think of an oath I think of something solemn, quiet, reverent and private. It is a serious thing go enter into a covenant. It’s like a marriage vow.

Marriages are serious but they are also celebrations.

I like the description of this oath. It was loud and raucous. It wasn’t done in secret, hidden in a corner. It was public. It was celebrated.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

Sometimes we are too private and quiet about our relationship with God. We are too serious. Shout! Sound instruments! Blow horns! It is a wonderful privilege to make an oath with the Lord.

I may not be perfect but I can be loud. Life with the Lord is a celebration.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Jesus, You came that I might have life to the full. I celebrate Your gift of life today. Amen.
