S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (NKJV) 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on [it] endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

Sometimes we wonder, “Will my life even matter? Will what I do count? Does it really hurt to take a few shortcuts, or to do what’s best for me even if it hurts someone else? Is anybody really going to know?”

The answer is a hard ‘yes’. “Each one’s work will become clear.”

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

This is the practical result of living by faith. I get to live my life knowing there is One who is always watching.

It’s so easy to get distracted and live in a way that looks good on the outside but cheats a little here or there when no one is watching. I need to live instead for an Audience of One. Only One really matters.

I can rest assured that any act of kindness and faith, no matter how hidden, is seen and recorded.

Each one’s work will become clear.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Father, I want my whole life, seen and unseen, to reflect You in me. Amen.
