S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

2 Chronicles 5:13-14 (NKJV) 13 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

God loves harmony. He loves unity.

I have always loved this biblical account of the dedication of Solomon’s Temple. It is inspiring.

The glory and the presence of God was so evident, so real, that it could been seen. In fact the priests were not able to do what they do because of the tangible presence of God in that place.

When did it happen? When there was unity and harmony. When the worshippers were as one.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

How great would it be to experience this today? It would be awesome.

Unity and harmony are so difficult to accomplish. And the more people there are the more difficult it is to achieve. It takes more than one, however.

Everyone wants to sing a solo. God wants a harmonic choir of voices and instruments. Can the soloist hold back and blend voices with the others? Can the tentative and fearful sing out loud and strong?

Unity involves everyone. Am I doing my part for unity or am I bringing discord and disharmony?

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Jesus, Be pleased with what You hear from my life today. Amen.
