Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?
2 Corinthians 13:11 (NKJV) Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
That phrase “become complete” is translated in other versions as: be perfected, grow to maturity, mend your ways and aim for restoration.
I think I might translate it, “become fully who God made you to be.”
When I become who God made me to be, the other words of this verse are the result. I am of good comfort. I take my place in a community of one mind. I live in peace.
This road of completeness has temptations and off-ramps along the way. One is to violate the Word of God.
The person who God made me to be is never in contradiction to God’s Word. When I am pulled to live in a way that violates God’s Word it is a trap. A trap to abandon who God made me to be for a version that is self-made or culture-made or pleasure-made.
Another off-ramp to avoid is striving to be like someone else and not myself. It may seem like a shortcut, but it won’t get me where I want to go. In the words of Frank Sinatra, “I gotta be me!”
God wants the best for me. He wants me to become the best version of myself. He is uniquely qualified to help me in my journey. I am wise to follow His lead.

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.
Father, You made me just how you wanted me. Now it’s my turn to become what You made me to be. I can use all of the help I can get. Amen.
