O // OBSERVATION
Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text
Habakkuk saw a lot of trouble in the nation of Israel. Some of it was internal and some of it was the threat of a strong neighboring nation. Some of what he saw was current and some was prophetic.
He used his prophetic office to speak for the Lord and to pray for his people.
Even in the midst of the darkest time Habakkuk saw rescue. He saw salvation. He knew that God’s rescue could overcome anything.
A // APPLICATION
How can I apply this to my life today?
In the old western movies when the good guys were outnumbered, outgunned and overwhelmed everyone cheered when the cavalry showed up to save the day. They came charging in and all of a sudden the odds changed dramatically. What was a hopeless situation turned into certain victory.
We have something better than the cavalry. We have Calvary! Jesus’ salvation swings the odds in my favor. I have no enemy to fear. He saves the day.
No matter what happens around me the cavalry is coming!
P // PRAYER
Express yourself in prayer
Jesus, I rejoice in Your victory today. No opposition can stand before You. No evil plot will go unpunished. Amen.
