Jesus was pointing out the gross inconsistency in their argument. The criticism you level at others should be applied to yourself too.
The thing that bothers me most about the cultural wars taking place today are the gross inconsistencies. I find those who insist on ‘tolerance’ are most intolerant of those who dont go along with their philosophy. The big question is: Am I being inconsistent about the standard I expect from others and the standard I live?
