Count On It

Daily Reading // Isaiah 66:1-13

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Isaiah 66:8 (NKJV) Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? [Or] shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.

We can do something with this verse that we can rarely do. We can point to the specific day of its fulfillment. The ‘one day’ in this verse is May 14, 1948. That is the day when Israel, who hadn’t been a nation for almost 2,000 years, suddenly became a nation.

Israel had been destroyed and dispersed by Emperor Hadrian in response to their on-going rebellion. They were spread among the nations of the world. The same thing had happened to other ancient civilizations. But then something happened that has never happened in the history of the world. A nation was reborn. Beyond all precedent Israel became a nation again and regathered in its homeland.

For thousands of years this prophecy from Isaiah seemed impossible. Then it happened. There is no promise or possibility too difficult for God. Everything He has said is true and every promise will be fulfilled. Even now the stage is being set for His next miracle. I can’t wait.

I trust every word and every promise He has ever given. I choose today not to look at current circumstances. They may tell me a different story. I trust His story.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Father, Your word is true and will come to pass. Help keep my eyes off circumstances and on Your word today. Amen.
