For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—
Luke 14:28 NKJV
Jesus was talking about counting the cost to follow Him. Don’t make a commitment until you first think of what it will cost you and make sure you’re willing to pay the price.
It’s kind of hard looking into the unknown future to count the cost. It’s a lot easier to look back into the past.
I’ve been following the Lord many years now. Looking back - have I paid the price? Have I left all to follow Him? Have I made tough decisions that cost me in order to follow Him? Have I sacrificed at all? Is my life different at all? This is an important and helpful self-evaluation.
Lord Jesus, I am reminded today that I belong to You. No cost is too great. Amen.
