Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

In this psalm all created things are encouraged to praise the Lord. This includes stars, clouds, mountains, hills, rivers, sea creatures, animals of the field and people.

In these two verses, right next to each other on the list are:

Beasts and all cattle; Creeping things and flying fowl; Kings of the earth and all peoples; Princes and all judges of the earth;

As sophisticated and superior as we think we are, at the end of the day human beings are created beings. First and foremost we are among those whom God spoke into being. We all owe our very existence to God.

In and of itself, that is reason enough to praise the Lord!

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

I owe everything to the Lord. He owes me nothing. Yet He daily loads me with benefits. He came to the earth and became like me so that people everywhere could be more than created beings. We could become redeemed beings. No other part of God’s creation can make that claim.

I praise Him today for creating me. I praise Him today for redeeming me. I praise Him today because He has given me a future and a hope.

What could be better than that?

Praise the Lord!
