Don’t Wear Purple

Writer's picture: Pastor JimPastor Jim

“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭16‬:‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Is there something wrong with eating well? Or wearing purple? Or being rich? What was the wrong this man committed?

There is nothing wrong with any of those things. But he walked right by someone with great need every day. He knew about the need and could’ve met it, but didn’t. He enjoyed excess while he knew this man suffered lack.

Maybe when God makes me aware of a need and gives me available resources, I should ask why. Maybe someone else’s need is my need to meet. Am I keeping everything for myself or giving to the needs of others and sharing with community?

Lord, Nothing I have is my own. Show me how to use what you have given me. Amen.
