S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

Judges 6:25 (NKJV) Now it came to pass the same night that the LORD said to him, “Take your father’s young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it;

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

Before Gideon took a small army and defeated the vast army of the Midianites, he tore down his father’s altar. He was afraid to do it by day, so he did it at night. He did it by leading an ‘army’ of ten men.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

This is a great example of how good the lord is to prepare us for a large battle. We begin with small battles.

Like David, who fought a lion and a bear before he fought Goliath, Gideon prepares for his larger battle with a smaller one.

This was not just a step of obedience. It was also a step of preparation.

Obedience in my life is preparation for greater things. Small things are not small. They lead me into big things. Don’t attempt the big without first accomplishing the small. Jesus said, “He who is faithful in the least will be faithful with much.”

Treat every act of obedience as important as Gideon’s battle over the Midianites.

You cannot be disobedient in the small things and expect to be victorious over big things.

Is there a small act of obedience I have not accomplished?

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Lord, You are Lord over the small as well as the big. In all things, I serve You. Amen.
