Fool Proof

Daily Reading // Matthew 1:1-12

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to threw times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Matthew 2:12 (NKJV) Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.

Herod had evil intentions in finding the newborn king. He kept his intentions a secret. He kept it a secret to take advantage of the three wisemen. They would lead him right to the child without even knowing it.

The wisemen had no way of knowing Herod’s real intentions. They had no reason to question his motives. It seems they could be easily fooled.

But it didn’t happen that way. They didn’t need to figure it out. God divinely warned them in a dream. They didn’t fall into Herod’s deception.

I don’t need to feel vulnerable to deception. There are many ‘Herods’ in life today. There are many people and groups who have deceptive purposes. It’s easy to feel like it’s impossible to know who you can trust.

I can trust God to give me divine direction. When natural senses can be fooled, supernatural discernment can be used.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Holy Spirit, Guide and direct me. I trust You when I can’t trust my natural senses. Amen.
