Here is an interesting description of the people of Israel in Jeremiah’s time, ‘they were not ashamed and they did not know how to blush’.

How can I apply this to my life today?
What does it say about people when they are never ashamed and don’t know how to blush? I think it means they lack self-awareness and any sense of right and wrong. It means they never feel remorse or regret when they have done something that harms someone else or violates common decency principles.
Like Jeremiah, we are living in those times.
I don’t think we should be consumed by shame, but there are times when it is right to be ashamed. I don’t think we should be overly self-conscious, but there are times when it’s right to blush.
If I never feel ashamed or never blush it may be a sign that my internal senses are not working properly and spiritual dullness has set in.

Lord, give me enough spiritual sensitivity and self-awareness to stay close to You. Amen.
