S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

Amos 4:13 (NKJV) For behold, He who forms mountains, And creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought is, And makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth-- The LORD God of hosts is His name.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

These chapters list a lot of people who were living godless lives and we’re doing things dishonoring to God. Living in different cities and nations, their sin was called out by God. Nothing escaped His notice. No one got away with anything.

I can’t pull one over on God. He knows my actions, my words and even my thoughts.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

Cameras are everywhere now.

I watch crime shows from time to time. When crimes are committed now police often get security camera footage from nearby homes and businesses. It is becoming more and more difficult to get away with anything without being caught by the watching eye of a camera somewhere.

That’s nothing compared to the watchful eye of God. He sees. He notices. He cares. He will uphold the cause of the victim.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

God, Your watchful gaze is a terror to the wicked and a comfort to the innocent and oppressed. I will live today with the comfort of knowing no one escapes Your sight and all will give account. Amen.
