Psalms 31:20 (NKJV) You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues.
O // OBSERVATION
Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text
As long as their have been people on the earth, there have been plots. Cain had the first recorded plot to kill his brother Abel. Even before that the serpent plotted against Adam and Eve in the garden. He is the father of plotting.
David experienced the plot of enemies, friends and ‘frenemies’. He knew what it was like to have the attention of wicked men who were after him. He also knew the one place to hide from these evil plots - in the secret place of God’s presence.
A // APPLICATION
How can I apply this to my life today?
David’s frustration with plots of man and strife of tongue hit home today. It gets weary trying to keep up with the deception and secret plotting of the world we live in. Strife of tongue has certainly reached a fever pitch.
Where can we go to escape the noise and frustration in the world today? Not to the news, social media, government or the world of entertainment. These only increase the noise and the rhetoric.
What’s in your ear can easily drown out the sounds all around you. A small set of headphones can turn a peaceful meadow into a loud concert hall. God’s presence is a peaceful meadow and this world is a loud concert hall. The meadow is real. The concert is artificial and temporary.
Don’t let the noise get you down. Escape into the quiet, calming peace of God’s presence.
P // PRAYER
Express yourself in prayer
Jesus, You also retreated to the quiet places to spend time with Your Father. Hide me in Your Presence today. Amen.
Yes and amen in quietness and trust is your strength
