SCRIPTURE:
But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David were not with Adonijah.
I Kings 1:8 NKJV
OBSERVATION:
As David was on his last days, his place as king would certainly be transferred to another. Those who were close to Adonijah rallied around him. Others rallied around Solomon.
This was not a casual alliance. It was life or death. If your guy becomes king you have a top place in his administration. If the other guy becomes king you will be seen as a threat and killed. These are high stake actions. It’s all or nothing.
APPLICATION:
My allegiance with Jesus makes me dead to the world. Those who choose the other side will experience eternal separation. Which side you choose makes all the difference. The stakes couldn’t be any higher.
PRAYER:
Jesus, You are my King!
