Why do we resist evil people? One reason is justice - so right will prevail and wrong will fail. The other reason is much more personal. It is for my gain over the other (evil) person.
I am very willing to sacrifice generosity in the name of justice. I’m going to fight for my rights to preserve justice. I’m not sure justice is necessarily mine to uphold. Jesus is saying in a sense here, ‘Let me worry about justice. You just be generous.’ Can I sacrifice justice for generosity?
Am I torn between generosity and justice today? It can even be in my words with others.
Jesus, Give me wisdom to live according to Your words, not my impulses. Amen.
