Daily Reading // 2 Corinthians 11:1-4

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to threw times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV) But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

The phrase that really stuck out to me today is, “corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”

Jesus calls us to simplicity, not complication. The idea of simple here is: singular, focused, one.

Truth is singular. Deception is multilayered.

When I start getting frustrated, confused and anxious because of complication in life, I generally know I have wandered from the simplicity of Christ. I go back to simplicity. I need to do what I know to do. Stay focused on Jesus.

Simplicity doesn’t mean easy. But it is the way we were functioned to perform. It’s the enemy who brings craftiness, deception and corruption into things. Leave those things behind. They will twist you up.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Amen.
