Lawful or helpful?
We get hung up a bit on what we can and cannot do. Some people say, “I don’t like God because He tells me what I can and cannot do. I don’t think He should be able to tell me I can’t do something.”
That is a huge misunderstanding about God. He tells you what is not helpful. He wants your good, what is helpful to you. If I trust Him and obey His Word then I am helped. If I don’t, then I face the consequences.
In fact, by resisting His help I can become controlled by one of my ‘freedoms’.
Father, You are the only place where true freedom is found. I trust Your Word and I trust Your love for me. Amen.
