Daily Reading // Luke 2:8-20

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to threw times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Luke 2:15 (NKJV) So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”

“Let us now go to Bethlehem.” They went together.

Many who came to Jesus, in the nativity story and even in His later ministry, came with someone else. The shepherds. The wise men. Peter and Andrew. James and John, etc.

“Let us now go to Bethlehem.” Having others who will go with you makes a lot of difference. It gives boldness. It provides a safety net. It gives you someone to discuss the experience with afterward.

“Let us now go.” That’s a lot different than, “I don’t care what you guys do, I’m going to Bethlehem!” Let’s go together. I’ll support you and you’ll support me. We can do it together. Let’s go.

I have benefitted my entire life from people who went with me. I’m not as adventurous alone as I am with others. I don’t enjoy experiences as much alone as I do with others.

Today I think about those ‘let’s go’ people in my life. I’m thankful for a ‘let’s go’ wife. I’m thankful for a ‘let’s go’ family of kids and grandkids. I’m thankful for a number of ‘let’s go’ friends and a ‘let’s go’ church.

I want to be a ‘let’s go’ guy for others.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Jesus, Thank You for the ‘let’s go’ people in my life. Make me a ‘let’s go’ guy for others. Amen.
