SCRIPTURE:
Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,
I Timothy 5:1 NKJV
OBSERVATION:
Do not rebuke … but exhort. They are basically the same thing, providing correction. But the way in which they are done are different. It’s not just what you do but how you do it that matters.
APPLICATION:
A rebuke is harsh. A rebuke asserts authority or power over someone and demands a particular response. An exhortation is more submitted to someone for their own decision and action.
It’s not just WHAT you do but HOW you do it.
PRAYER:
Jesus, Help me to see others like family, not enemies. Amen.
