Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.

In the days of John people were going to these brand new churches and bringing doctrinal error. John was concerned about them and warned them not just to accept what anyone says. Those who teach or do things contrary to scripture should not be listened to.
The same thing is true today. Not everyone who has a pulpit, a book or a podcast is teaching sound biblical doctrine. I’ve got to listen with biblical ears. I need to know what the Bible says to rightly discern what is being taught.
Discipleship is not passive. It is active.
Holy Spirit, Lead me into all truth. Give me discernment between truth and error. Amen.
