S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

2 Chronicles 33:1 (NKJV) Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

Manasseh reigned for 55 years. He reigned the longest of any of the kings of Israel or Judah. David and Solomon’s reign were 40 years each. Manasseh reigned much longer than that.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

I have to be careful about how I interpret the favor of God. It would be easy to imagine the king with the longest reign was given that reign by the favor of God. With that thinking, Manasseh must have been a great king, God’s favorite. That is far from the truth.

I hear many people interpreting circumstances as God’s favor, or God’s direction. Careful! When we use our natural minds to figure out God’s intentions

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Jesus, i trust Your love no matter what circumstances may tell me. Amen.
