S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

Revelation 5:4-5 (NKJV) 4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

The event of John receiving this revelation should always amaze us. He was on the island of Patmos physically, but was transported through spiritual revelation into the throne room of heaven. Amazing! He saw things that no one else has ever seen.

As the revelation unfolded, John became emotional. That’s okay. It is healthy to express emotion. It says he wept much.

But his weeping was premature. He began weeping too early. It’s true, there was a legitimate problem. No one was found to open the scroll. But there was an answer to the problem - The Lion of the Tribe of Judah!

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

Before despair, look for Jesus. A problem may seem insurmountable. It may seem overwhelming and without answer. My situation may seem hopeless. Where is Jesus? What is He doing? How will He reveal Himself in it?

This passage reminds me of times when my wife can’t open a jar. She doesn’t cry. She brings it to me. I’m always able to open them.

If a problem exists that no one on heaven and earth can resolve, look for Jesus. There is no seal He can’t open.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Jesus, Thank You for Your strength! There is nothing You can’t do! Amen.
