Lovers Of Pleasure

SCRIPTURE:

traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭3:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

OBSERVATION:

“Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God”. That’s the phrase that got my attention. In place of God is pleasure. Pleasure is worshipped and given the number one priority. These people are very religious and pleasure is their religion. They sacrifice all at the altar of pleasure.

APPLICATION:

Those who say they aren’t religious very religiously pursue and protect their right to pleasure. The word there is the base of ‘hedonism’. If this life is all there is, then pleasure should be your god. If there is an eternity, then it cannot have first place.

PRAYER:

Father, give me the wisdom and courage to place You over my own pleasures. Amen.
