Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;

What stuck out to me was the lives of those in this passage who genuinely served the Lord. Their lives weren’t easy. Mary was told a sword would pierce through her own soul. Simeon welcomed death. Anna had been a widow almost her whole life. Joseph disappears from scripture after this event.
We think by serving God He owes us something. We think He is going to give us special consideration and make life easy for us. That’s not substantiated in the Bible.
I’m just reminded not to have a conditional ‘this-for-that’ kind of faith. I’m also reminded that this short life is nothing in comparison to eternity.
Father, I will serve You and live for You no matter what. You owe me nothing. Amen.
