Daily Reading // Isaiah 40:15-31
READY // SILENCIO
Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.
READ // LECTIO
Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.
REFLECT // MEDITATIO
Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?
Isaiah 40:22 [It is] He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants [are] like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
Space exploration. It has defined our greatest accomplishments: “They can send a man to the moon...” We just witnessed history when, only a few days ago astronauts were launched into space from US soil. That was the first in twelve years. But it was also from a commercial company, SpaceX.
We also now have a newly developed part of the military called the Space Force. We were told long ago by Captain Kirk that space is “the final frontier”.
Space, in all its infinite vastness and unexplored possibility, is merely a tent to God. It like going camping, thinking “This is the spot, I’ll camp here.” Pulling a tent out of the bag and putting it in place. If space is vast, God is much more vast. If space is inspiring to look into on a warm summer night, God is much more inspiring. If space is worthy of our extensive exploration, then God is infinitely more worthy.
God is our final frontier. We will explore His vastness for all eternity.
RESPOND // ORATIO
Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.
God, You are more amazing than anything I can see or name, because You created it all, including me. I praise You for Your creation, the work of Your hands. Amen.
Tomorrow’s reading -> Isaiah 41:1-20
Always a fresh perspective. In these troubled times when it seems the whole Earth has lost its moorings I need to be reminded of how BIG and POWERFUL He is. Thanks.
