Daily Reading // Psalm 21:1-13

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Psalm 21:11 For they intended evil against You; They devised a plot [which] they are not able [to] [perform.]

This verse is referring to the enemies of God plotting against Him. They failed to observe the first two rules of plotting:

  1. Never plot against God. You cannot win.

  2. Never carry out a plot without first making sure you can pull it off. See rule #1.

How many people plot and plan against God? They try to frustrate His plans, or get away with something behind His back, or outsmart Him, or prove to the world He doesn’t exist. None have succeeded.

One well-known attempt was author Josh McDowell. He set out to disprove the resurrection. Instead, he became convinced of its truth and surrendered to the Lord.

Every act of sin, big or small, is a plot against God. It’s a bad idea.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Lord, Turn the plots of Your enemies into Your triumphs. Amen.
