Radical Options

Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paul lists a couple of options here that are rarely considered. He gives them as options that are superior to taking someone to court and fighting for your rights. They are:

- Accept being wronged

- Let yourself be cheated

This is pretty radical. There is something in us that demands to prove that we are right. When cheated or wronged, it seems the only thing that matters is to get justice.

Paul says that’s not the most important thing. Being wronged is not the worst thing. Being cheated is not the worst thing. Aggressively demanding to be ‘right’ and be repaid is worst.

We would be wise to apply this in marriages, too.

Father, I have no claims of righteousness of my own. I am a debtor to You. Forgive me of my debts as I forgive my debtors. Amen.
