I love the phrase used here, “He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the scriptures.”
They had read the scriptures before. They thought they understood what they read. But now this was different. The scriptures took on new meaning. They were able to apply the scriptures to their own lives, this very situation.
I desire that kind of understanding of the scriptures. It doesn’t come from study or intelligence. It comes from the Lord.
Jesus, Open my understanding that I might comprehend the scriptures. Amen.
