So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.”
Acts 21:14 NKJV
There were many who told Paul not to go to Jerusalem. They pleaded. They prophesied. They used a belt for dramatic emphasis. None were persuasive. Not because Paul didn’t believe them. He did. His motive was obedience over self-preservation.
What if I knew that an act of obedience would result in harm? Would I be obedient or would I take care of myself?
The time may well be coming where I will need to decide, like Paul, either to do what’s safest for me or in obedience to the Lord.
Lord, Make me ready for that day. Amen.
