Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?”
John 7:47-48 NKJV
Here was their argument: We don’t believe it, so it must not be true. Wow, that’s pretty arrogant.
As it turns out their argument was flawed in many ways. At least one of the Pharisees (Nicodemus) did believe in Him, but was intimidated into secrecy. Their argument involved Jesus coming from Galilee, but He was born in Bethlehem.
Their arguments were built on misinformation and intimidation.
The same thing happens today. Don’t be surprised. Don’t be swayed.
The culture was wrong then and it’s wrong now.
