Daily Reading // Isaiah 33:1-16

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Isaiah 33:3 At the noise of the tumult the people shall flee; When You lift Yourself up, the nations shall be scattered;

When I was in the army, my wife and I lived in a warm climate that was conducive for cockroaches. We didn’t know it at the time, but the apartment next door to us had an infestation of the little critters. Of course, they would stray over to our place. Ultimately, our landlord took care of the infestation.

I remember coming home in the evening, opening the door and turning on the light. The darkness and the quiet had given the cockroaches a sense of safety, so they had wandered out, like they owned the place. When we walked in and turned on the light, they scattered.

In our world there are places of darkness and Gods judgement seems to be withheld. Evil people are emboldened by the darkness. A day will come when He will lift Himself up, turn on the light and come to earth. On that day all the godless will flee, like cockroaches. Those who had oppressed others, who used others for their own gain and who spoke against Jesus will have no where to run.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Come quickly, Lord. Right every wrong. Turn the light on. Bring light and hope to a dark world. Amen.
