Scripture Ties Together

Writer's picture: Pastor JimPastor Jim

Then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, spit in his face, and answer and say, ‘So shall it be done to the man who will not build up his brother’s house.’ And his name shall be called in Israel, ‘The house of him who had his sandal removed.’

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I love how the Bible continues to connect and reveal truth!

John the Baptist makes a comment about Jesus that many just write off as ‘I wonder why he said that’?

When asked about the coming Messiah, John said, “One is coming whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen.” This was not a random comment. John was referring to this passage.

In other words, Jesus has the right to claim His bride and He will not fail to accept the assignment. His sandal will not be removed.

This passage also shows up in the story of Ruth and Boaz.

I love how scripture connects and confirms itself!
