Seriously, Don’t Be Afraid

SCRIPTURE:

“As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.””

‭‭Mark‬ ‭5:36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

OBSERVATION:

When I think of this event, I think of it from Jairus’ perspective. He was obviously beside himself with concern for his daughter. That concern brought him to Jesus. He must’ve been amazed and annoyed by the distractions that came to Jesus as they traveled. Then he heard those terrible words, “Your daughter is dead.”

How did he feel when Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid, only believe”? Did the authority in Jesus’ voice make his fear melt away? Was he still a bit skeptical?

APPLICATION:

I am also concerned, hopeful, fearful, annoyed sometimes. What Jairus thought was a healing mission was actually a resurrection mission. When Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid” he literally had nothing to fear.

Can I hear Him say that today?

PRAYER:

Jesus, I trust 100% in You. Amen.
