S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

Isaiah 65:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, My servants shall eat, But you shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, But you shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, But you shall be ashamed; 14 Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, But you shall cry for sorrow of heart, And wail for grief of spirit.

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

These are a couple of great verses about serving. When you think about servants, especially those who served a king during this time period, you realize that the riches and resources of the palace are at their disposal. When and enemy attacks, the servants in the king’s palace have the same protections as the king.

Serving may seem like a lowly endeavor, but it definitely has its perks.

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

Pastor Wayne Cordeiro has said, “The fastest way to the throne will always be through the servants’ entrance.” These verses bear that out.

There is no greater honor than to be the servant of the King. There are numerous ways to serve. Each servant has his or her own unique strengths to bring to the task. It’s not what you do but for Whom you do it that matters.

Jesus said, “Even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

If that doesn’t elevate the position of server I don’t know what will.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Jesus, Make me one who serves with the gladness of heart in these verses, like You. Amen.
