S // SCRIPTURE

Select a verse from today’s reading

Psalms 117:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! 2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!

O // OBSERVATION

Why did this verse get your attention? Make a simple observation from the text

I was struck when I read this entire psalm this morning - the shortest chapter in the whole Bible.

You don’t have to say a lot to say a lot. In these short verses are really the essentials of life: praise, mercy, kindness, truth, endurance, eternity and, of course, the Lord!

A // APPLICATION

How can I apply this to my life today?

Reading this chapter again and again I want it to set my mind and my heart today. I fill myself with these things so that they influence everything I do and say today.

Lord, you have made me a person of praise. I am made to praise You. The opposite of praise is complain, criticize and be ungrateful. The enemy uses them to pervert and steal my praise. I won’t let it happen.

P // PRAYER

Express yourself in prayer

Father, I praise You for who You are and for all the mercy and kindness You show yo me. Help me spread that around today. Amen.
