holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.
Titus 1:9 NKJV
Sound doctrine has a duel purpose. It exhorts and it convicts. It exhorts godly behavior and convicts ungodly behavior.
The same word going forth will exhort and affirm those who are living by it while convicting those who are not.
I need both - but I want the Word to exhort more than convict.
Jesus, Guide me by sound doctrine. Amen.
