They were claiming a lineage and a pedigree that wasn’t real. A DNA test would’ve have said they were Abraham’s children. It was true genetically but not spiritually. There was a physical reality but not a spiritual reality. Their spiritual DNA pointed to the devil.
DNA tests have become very popular for tracing ancestry. Jesus was saying spiritual ancestry is much more important than physical ancestry. How do you give a spiritual DNA test? Examine the beliefs and behavior. It will tell you every time.
