Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little."
Like many people, I find myself to be pretty impatient. We are living in an instant information, microwave world. I want the maturity that comes through patience, but I want it right now.
When it comes to really knowing God’s Word, there is no substitute for a step-by-step approach. I can’t microwave deep biblical understanding. It comes day by day. One truth today, another tomorrow. Here a little, there a little.
David Lloyd George, a Welsh statesman in the late 1800’s, once said, “You can’t jump a chasm in two leaps.” We’ll, the opposite is true with the Bible. You can’t leap it’s truths in one leap. An innumerable number of small steps are required. Today is a great day for one more small step.
RESPOND // ORATIO
Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.
Father, Thank You for all the truth found in Your Word. I wouldn’t want it to be a one-leap affair. Give me patience for the journey line upon line, precept upon precept. Amen.
