So Moses heeded the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said.
Exodus 18:24 NKJV
Moses spoke to God face-to-face. He obeyed God, leading the people out of the bondage of Israel. The law was given through him.
But Jethro had counsel for him. Jethro had practical wisdom to share with him. How can you teach someone who is so close to God and His wisdom?
I wonder if it was intimidating for Jethro. I guess not, because he didn’t hold back. I wonder if it was tough for Moses to admit he needed Jethro’s counsel.
Some people think they are so close to God they don’t need anyone’s input. They don’t listen to others out of a sense of superiority. I never want to be like that.
If Moses could learn from others, we all can.
God, I want to be close to You and learn from You, and also learn from the wisdom of others. Amen.
