“for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:”
Acts 17:23 NKJV
‘To the unknown God’. Paul seized upon that and used it to preach Jesus to them.
This story really speaks to the motivation for missions. For too many people in the world there is a desire to worship God, but they don’t know Him. We are commissioned to bring that knowledge to those who don’t know.
I also want to know Him more. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, “You worship what you do not know.”
I want to know the One I worship!
Jesus, You came so that we can worship in spirit and in truth. Help me to know You more! Amen.
