The Prequel

Daily Reading // Isaiah 65:17-25

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Isaiah 65:17 (NKJV) "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
Isaiah 65:25 (NKJV) The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust [shall be] the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain," Says the LORD.

Believe it or not, I remember when the very first Star Wars episode came out. We knew when it premiered there would be later released sequels and prequels. It was part of a much bigger story. All of the stories were related and connected, but different.

Isaiah here tells us that this life is a prequel. It is a preface, an introduction to the main story. The stage is being set for something yet to come.

We also know from these verses that the rules will be altered in this main story. Things that create fear and danger now will be eliminated then. The wolf, the lion, the serpent will give no cause for alarm whatsoever. That is different.

It helps to remember that we are living in a prequel. The main story is yet to come. The main character, Jesus, has been introduced. His major role is yet to come. The prequel will end with troubles and catastrophes. The main story then begins with our Hero coming on the clouds to rescue all of those who are in distress but have called upon Him.

I can’t wait for the sequel!

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Jesu, Thank You for reminding me that I am living in a prequel. I trust in You for this life and the next. Use me today. Amen.
