Daily Reading // Isaiah 65:1-16

READY // SILENCIO

Take a moment to quiet your mind and prepare your heart for your time with the Lord.

READ // LECTIO

Read the passage above up to three times aloud. Allow yourself to feel the words as they are read.

REFLECT // MEDITATIO

Now direct your focus on the words, phrases concepts or sentences that got your attention. What is God speaking to you today through His word?

Isaiah 65:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, My servants shall eat, But you shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, But you shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, But you shall be ashamed; 14 Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, But you shall cry for sorrow of heart, And wail for grief of spirit.

I once heard Pastor Wayne Cordeiro say, “The quickest way to the throne is threw the servant’s entrance”. That idea is carried on by Isaiah here. No wonder why Jesus said, “The Son of Man came, not to be serve, but to serve”.

The gospel makes it clear: I can serve God by serving those in need.

The world says, ‘Be a big shot. Be somebody famous. Be rich. Build for yourself a life that others envy.” God says, ‘Serve. Lay your life down. Humble yourself.’ It’s two very different approaches.

When he was wallowing in the pig pen, the prodigal son said to himself, “My fathers servants live better than this.” He came upon an important truth expressed in these verses in Isaiah.

Nothing beats living as a servant of God.

RESPOND // ORATIO

Pray in response to what the Lord has spoken to you.

Father, How can I serve You today? Amen.
