The Trapper and the Trapped

SCRIPTURE:

His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, And he is caught in the cords of his sin.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭5:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

OBSERVATION:

Sin is a trap. It entangles and snares its victim. It doesn’t give greater freedom but more restriction. Worst of all, it is a trap I set for myself. I’m the trapper and the trapped.

APPLICATION:

This warning from scripture really needs to be personalized. What trap of sin am I setting for myself today? When setting a trap you have to look to the future. What might be caught in this trap? With sin I need to look to the future. How will this limit, restrict or punish me or others in the future? Don’t mess with the trap of sin.

There’s one way out: confession and repentance.

PRAYER:

Jesus, You paid the penalty for my sin. I will not give it control over me any longer. Amen.
